DAY 2 was …easy!? Our goal was to get through Poland in one day. It sounded unreal! We are going slow (80 km/h – otherwise the caravan shakes the car) and Janis isn’t feeling good.
We started from Alytus, Lithuania and ended in Łozina, Poland at 2 am! We can’t go any further – it was terrible for all of us to sit in the car for such a long time (with few bathroom brakes). Also, we got in the traffic jam. And for the first time, I really experienced what does it mean traffic jam! Those so called traffic jams in Latvia is… nothing!!!
For girls, it was terrible to sleep in car seats but I can say – it is easy to travel with my girls. We did crafts and coloring. Also the “I spy” and didn’t have any “screen time”. Yes, you read it right – no computer or phones or other smart devices! Since I and Janis are in IT (Computer geeks) we know how damage it can be for children.
There are lots of things you can do in a car without smart devices. Yes, you need to be prepared but it’s worth it.
We had our sun set at McDonald’s cafe…. it was the closest cafe 🙂
Now, I’m the only one up and have to manage the breakfast. Outside is windy and it’s raining. Brrrrr it’s cold! Only 13 degree Celsius.

What a great start to your adventure. It does no harm to go without electronics for a while, if only to show the youngsters how we older ones lived most of our lives.

The adventure has really begun! It is great that you are documenting your trip through your blog. If you don’t, you can sometimes forget some little details. 700 kms is a long day with little ones but they seem to have survived. It is good that you are so prepared – makes life easier! Hope Janis is feeling better or otherwise you may be at the hospital – hope not though. Your pics are great. I am with you on your trip. Safe travels!!

The truth is that our kids’ teenage years were our favorite travel years, believe it or not. They were old enough to take care of themselves and have some opinions, but still malleable enough to go with the family flow. The fact that you are “training” yours to not rely on electronics for their entertainment bodes well for well-adjusted teenagers! 🙂

Nice to hear that travel is possible with teenagers! I guess sometimes electronics is the “problem”. Parents what free time and forget that kids can entertain themselves with a little (practical, not electronic) help 🙂
