Celebrating Helmi’s 9th Birthday in Our Unfinished House

Yesterday, we celebrated Helmī’s 9th birthday, and today the festivities continue! It’s a milestone for more than just our smallest girl—it’s the first party we’ve ever hosted in our unfinished house! And honestly, it was magical.

The space is spacious and open, just what we envisioned for these kinds of gatherings. The kids loved the freedom of running wild around the fields, soaking in the crisp autumn air, and taking trips to visit their grandparents, who live only 500 meters away. It was the perfect setting for them to explore, laugh, and be carefree.

We brought in a table and set it up exactly where I had always planned to have our “special occasion dining” area, and it felt so right. Seeing our vision for the living room come to life, even though it’s not quite finished, filled me with pride. The way we divided the large space into separate zones really worked well—everything just clicked.

I was so busy enjoying the moment (and managing the chaos!) that I didn’t even get around to taking pictures of everything. The few photos we do have show the drink and candy bar—but rest assured, we also had real food! 😄 Helmī’s smile lit up the whole day, and her joy reminded me why this place is worth all the effort we’ve put in.

Happy birthday, Helmī! Here’s to our smallest girl and many more celebrations in this house filled with love.

Love,

Ilze

    1. Thank you so much! Yes, even with the house unfinished, the party turned out great. I think the kids enjoyed the space to run around more than anything! And you’re right—sometimes it’s better to just be in the moment instead of behind the camera.
