Sunday: Finding the Light in One of Many Tunnels

For a while now, it felt like everything was piling up—work, renovation, family commitments, and life in general. I’ve been juggling so many responsibilities, and it has become overwhelming. It felt as if I were trapped in a series of dark tunnels with no end in sight. The weight of it all pressed down and sapped my motivation.

But recently, something shifted. I discovered a light in one of those tunnels. While everything hasn’t magically resolved itself, I can finally see a way forward. That small glimmer of hope is empowering me to keep going.

Sometimes, that’s all we need—a reminder that things can get better. Even if it’s just one small step at a time. It’s enough to reignite the energy to push through tough moments. Now, when I look ahead, I know more dark tunnels are inevitable, but I’ve also learned that there’s always a light waiting at the end. That knowledge makes all the difference.

This morning, I woke up to Miley Cyrus’s song “The Climb.” I hadn’t really noticed it before, except for last summer when I was listening to her album Endless Summer Vacation on Spotify. That summer, we lived in a caravan on our property for two months, taking showers in a tent with hot water heated in buckets. It only takes one bucket to wash my hair, condition it, and have a quick rinse, but if I wanted a spa day, I needed two!

One time the pump broke, so Jānis is multitasking—holding the hose to manage the water flow while also attending a Zoom meeting with his colleagues in Canada. Physics plays a role in everyday life!

Looking back, it all seems a bit crazy, but we truly enjoyed that summer, and it holds such fond memories for me now.

Wishing you all a wonderful Sunday,
Ilze

P.S. I just received a notification that Facebook has suspended my account, claiming I’m violating their policies! WTF?

    1. Thank you, Derrick! It’s interesting how overwhelmed I can feel sometimes. Every piece of bad news feels really heavy, but then I remind myself it’s just another opportunity for something new and different.

  1. The Facebook notice is probably spam. Go see what happens when you go to the account. This is a classic scam, don’t click on any links. If you have, put a hold on credit and bank cards and change all of your passwords. It’s a lot of work but having your identity is even worse. Great post and I love the Physics lesson. Take care of the security risk and when you can comment back, I have a question for you. 🙂

                  1. Great! Turning the tables on me? Sure, I’m in. I’ll start working on my draft, gather more info about you through your post and think of a couple of questions to ask. One question is, what is your favorite song or songs from any generation? Talk soon.

  2. I’ve never showered in a tent, your husband is good to you! I’ve never had a FB account, yay! You are getting the same treatment that I got from Instagram about three weeks ago. They banned me claiming that I violated the community rules. No, I did not. They also banned me from commenting for a week or more three times. I am NOT going to try to recover the account, they will just be abusive to me again. Social media sucks! These creeps can’t ban us from our blogs, haha.

  3. I love the spa day, two buckets! I have used a “solar shower” when camping, a bag of water that heats up in the sun. The simple pleasures are key. Sorry about the FB weirdness. Mine is odd right now, my feed is blank, although my friends are posting. Glad you have the great memories to hold onto.
