Ugh, it’s that time of year again. I’m sick, I’m grumpy, and November feels like it’s just the gloomy bridge between October’s colorful autumn and December’s Christmas cheer. Gray skies, endless rain, and not much to brighten things up… just plain dreary. November really can be a drag.
Oh, wait a minute there are some bright spots after all! Lāčplēsis Day and Independence Day give us some things to celebrate, even in the middle of all this gray. So maybe there’s hope for November yet…
How do you get through this month?
Ilze
P.S. No… I’m still grumpy…

You are so right about November. It is hard to get used, again, to this darkness, staying inside, wet snow or freezing cold. I like to knit and crochet, that is what I do in November, December is a better month with Christmas.

I completely agree; it really takes some adjusting, doesn’t it? November feels like a long stretch of gray, and the early darkness makes it even harder to stay motivated. Knitting and crocheting sound like the perfect cozy ways to get through it, though! There’s something comforting about working with warm yarns as the world gets colder. And yes, December definitely brings that extra sparkle with Christmas to look forward to.

I’m not bad, thanks Ilze. Half way through my BCG vaccine installation treatment. Weather still mild and overcast

I’m still grumpy, trying to hide it. I’ve been having a Fobromyalgia flare for a couple of months and it’s so tiring.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this! Fibromyalgia flares can be so draining—no wonder you’re feeling exhausted. Hang in there, and remember to take it easy on yourself.

It can be so incapacitating that you can’t help but go to bed. Thanks for the kind words. 🙂

I agree November can seem bleak, but I’ve decided to embrace it. I burn candles with the most wonderful autumn scents, take long bubble baths, and soon I will get out my Christmas decorations. I love my home and being cozy and warm in it. Our church does several service projects for the holidays and it always makes me feel better if I have helped someone in some small way. The weeks and months fly by so fast anymore, November seems like a moment to catch my breath! I hope you feel better soon.

That sounds so lovely! Embracing November with cozy candles, bubble baths, and the warmth of home is the perfect way to enjoy the season. And bringing out Christmas decorations soon—that sounds so uplifting! I love that your church’s service projects give you a chance to give back; helping others really does bring a sense of peace. Thank you for the kind wishes. November truly does feel like a moment to slow down and appreciate the little things. 😊
