Confirmed: It’s the Flu

After a day of fever, chills, and exhaustion, we decided to take a test—just to be sure. And there it was, clear as day: Nelle has the flu. No more guessing, no more wondering if it’s just a bad cold. It’s official.

Honestly, I’m still wrapping my head around it. In 12 years, we’ve managed to avoid the flu entirely, and now, here we are. It’s hard not to think about the timing—Nelle had her vaccinations recently, and I can’t shake the feeling that her immune system was a bit weakened because of it. I know the science says vaccines don’t cause the flu, but it does seem like her body was just too busy recovering from one thing to fight off another.

So now, our home has turned into a recovery zone. Herbal teas, warm blankets, fever checks, and lots of rest. Nights are the hardest—broken sleep, coughing fits, and that feverish heat that makes everything uncomfortable. I just hope she starts feeling better soon.

For now, we wait, we care, and we hope the flu stops with her and doesn’t take down the rest of us.
