A Tulip on March 8: A Reflection

I received tulips on March 8, but I don’t celebrate the day—it’s just another date for me. I didn’t even realize it was March 8 until the flowers arrived. March 8, Women’s Day, is a post-Soviet tradition, but it’s not something I particularly connect with. My husband knows I don’t need flowers on this day and appreciates that it’s the thought, not the date, that matters.

Anyway, I received a lot of tulips, and that brightened my day.

Today, I woke up to find all the tulips from the windowsill on the floor, knocked over by Marley, our mischievous cat.

I can’t help but laugh at his antics.

In the end, it’s not about the flowers or the date—it’s about the little moments, even if they involve a cat knocking things over. This made me smile.

    1. I started to think it wasn’t Marley after all. The vase was still lying on the windowsill, so maybe the flowers were just too heavy and tipped over on their own. 😊 But he came running when I couldn’t hide my surprise and seemed a bit guilty 🙂
