Today marks the moment when the night becomes longer than the day. The sun sets earlier, the shadows stretch, and the cool evening air lingers just a little longer. It’s a quiet reminder that the year is turning, that autumn is deepening, and that our pace of life can slow along with the shortening days.

There’s something comforting about this shift. It invites us to pause, to light a candle, wrap ourselves in a warm blanket, and reflect on the season. It’s a time to embrace stillness, to enjoy a hot drink, and to welcome cozy evenings filled with gentle routines.

P.S. I took these pics at the moment my back went out….

Being totally alone, I have divided thoughts. I love the longer days but then long for night to come so I san “hide away,” and when the long nights come, sometimes I feel they are never-ending.

Come on! Is this autumn depression already? I hope it’s not for long, if it comes “sometimes” then fine, cause being in a relationship sometimes is hard too!

You should sleep at night, that will solve anything 🙂 But I so get what you are saying!

I love your photos, Ilze, and I love your thoughts about Autumn. It’s my very favorite 🙂 But how did it get here so quickly? I don’t remember a year flying by as fast as this one seems to have…

This one was fast, we renovated the room, and that is it… 🙂 but I guess time solves everything 🙂 If it’s productive, I don’t mind year flying by fast 🙂

I would enjoy fall more if our winters weren’t so harsh. Fall just reminds me it’s just around the corner. I love spring when the colors come back and it warms up enough not not need a heavy jacket and I can feel the sun on my face again ;). Tho I do like getting rid of daylight savings time in the fall!

I totally get that—fall does have that little shadow of winter hanging over it. Spring really does feel magical when everything wakes up again and the sun actually feels warm! Don’t let me start on the Daylight saving…..mad!

You’re right about the change of light offering a moment to pause, Ilze. They are days that end earlier. Your photos are soft and beautiful, my friend.

Thank you! These pictures were taken right after I hurt my back, so they’ll always remind me of that experience in the woods. Luckily, I had my husband with me! 🙂
