Happy Anniversary

Thirteen years since I first pressed “publish” with WordPress. I blogged before.

Back then, I didn’t know this space would grow with me. It has seen everything — my early creativity, the busy years with little kids, the experiments, the pauses, the returns. It has quietly held my thoughts through different seasons of life.

Somewhere along these 13 years, my blog has worn different names — each one fitting a version of me at the time. I remember choosing them carefully, believing this one would be the one that lasts.

Some years I wrote more, some less. Sometimes I felt inspired, sometimes I questioned why I even keep a blog. But I always come back. Because this space feels like mine — a place where small moments matter.

And to those who have been here — quietly reading, commenting, or just passing by — thank you. Thank you for supporting me, for being here, for showing up in your own way. It matters more than you might think.

And I know my blog isn’t just sunshine and rainbows. It never has been. It holds the messy parts too and maybe that’s why it still feels real.

  1. Sincere congratulations Ilze! If it ‘feels’ right, I do not think there has to be a ‘reason’ for you to send your thoughts into space . . . you get a natural opportunity to say what is in your mind, we may notice . . . think ‘oh, I would like to know more’ and subscribe . . . if it feels right, stay . . . and a relationship of various kinds forms . . . great to travel around the world and share and learn thru’ the good and bad days that way . . . I arrived totally by accident after reading something you said Lord knows where . . . I am glad I did . . .

      1. Moving to our new house has been a nightmare as they always are. The movers brought our furniture last week but still so much to go through, what to keep, what goes to charity. Most of my bathroom items are at the other house which gets frustrating. I do love the house and look forward to being settled in and selling our other house. The sunroom is my place of joy! 🙂

        1. New house? I remember you saying, that you want smaller house, but hubby won’t listen. Are you moved to smaller house finally? Why aren’t you sharing that in your blog?

          1. I’ve shared a couple of post but it’s update time because the past month has been hell. I actually wanted a one story house with 1-2 thousand feet larger. I fell in love with this house but it’s smaller than our other house. We are feeling the hurt of not having the space in every room except the sunroom. We both have one less cabinet in the bathroom as an example. We’ve purged so much and already have a charity run yet it’s a process when the last time we moved was 24 years ago. Maybe in six months we will adjust and have our other house sold. That will lighten the load and the proceeds will pay off this house. I sure look forward to that. I do love the house, we’re on .25 acres. Thanks for asking. The movers only brought our furniture 2 weeks ago. 🙂

            1. That must be so frustrating! I hope you can get through all that 24-year-old “stuff” and let go of what you no longer need.

I often ask myself: Do I really need this? We sometimes end up with too many things and too much furniture without even noticing.

Simple living really does feel freeing.

              1. We have simplified to the point I’m even getting rid of antiques because we don’t have the same and they haven’t been used since inheriting the pieces. The only antiques I’m keep are my Granny’s mother cast iron sewing machine and a table my Grandparents retored for me.

                  1. I have so many memories of the sewing machine growing up. My Granny sewed all my clothes when I was little. She also made quilts. There not fancy and I haven’t used them yet plan to donate to a senior center.

  2. 13 years, that’s fabulous Congrats! I was just reading about how we should be writing down our memories, so we don’t forget. I think blogging is a great way to do just that.
