This year’s Līgo was wonderfully simple. We celebrated right next to the Baltic Sea, listening to the waves, watching the sunset, and enjoying time together as a family.
No big plans, no rush—just fresh sea air, good food, laughter, and the feeling that sometimes the simplest celebrations are the ones we remember the longest.
I hope your Līgo was filled with moments that made you smile too. 🌿

Oh how I miss making the flower wreath for my hair . . . to romantic little me that was always such a big part of the celebration . . . besides dancing around the maypole and feeding the midsummer night’s fire . . .
That’s such a beautiful memory to have. I love how you describe it – flower wreaths really do feel like a little piece of magic in the hair. I did make a wreath this year, but I didn’t make any for the girls. I’ve tried teaching them many times, but if they’re not interested, I’ve learned not to push it too much. Do you still keep any midsummer traditions alive?
Not really – it definitely is not part of the culture here, our hot time is during the Christmas holidays and I did become pretty ‘Australian’ already in my teenage years way back 🙂 ! Just memories!

At my age there are no family traditions being observed any longer in the summer. For many years we had a family union.
