The morning started with another delicious salad straight from the garden. 🥗 I just love this daily ritual—fresh, simple, and full of summer flavor.
The big news today? I finally brought my sewing machines back home. It’s been a while—I originally gave them “just for a week”… and never got them back. 😅 But now they’re mine again, sitting on my table, ready for new projects. Well—almost ready. One has broken needles, and the serger isn’t working properly, so now I have to figure that out. Not the dreamy start I imagined, but I’m still glad they’re here. It feels like a step toward creating again.

And finally—the first zucchini is here! 🌱 Such a satisfying little victory in the garden.
And then… a full rainbow appeared! 🌈 Not just a quick glimpse, but the entire arc across the sky. It felt like a quiet kind of magic, just for today.

I love seeing rainbows! This summer, it’s only the third one so far. It’s been raining almost nonstop—but without enough sun to make many rainbows. That’s why today felt extra special.

Beautiful rainbow!
It really was, John — one of those “stop and stare” moments! Do you often spot rainbows in LV?
I can’t recall ever seeing a rainbow here, Ilze, rain is so scarce here.
Oh, wow.. never thought of that. Then I guess I’m lucky!
Yes, you are! I’ve seen two days of rain this monsoon season and none of that rain fell on my home. It all went to other areas of the valley.
OK, that’s it, I’m packing a few clouds and sending your way!
That would be great!!
I relate with you, Ilze–sewing, gardening, and cooking.
Sounds like we share some of the same favorite hobbies! Which one do you find yourself doing most often these days?
The blog takes at least half a day, so there isn’t much time left for hobbies. In the summer, gardening takes precedence. I know I can’t do much of it year-round.
My blog also takes up a lot of time. Why do we do that?
A definite ‘wow’ to your zucchini – way bigger than ours tend to be . . . as far as sewing machines go > a sad ‘no’ of total ignorance > give me knitting needles and it is another story 🙂 !
I really admire knitters—like my mom, who has made around 100 pairs of wool socks since the war in Ukraine began. That’s such dedication! What’s your favorite thing to knit when the mood strikes?
Well, I managed to develop ‘rotor cuff’ about 15 months ago (arm muscles and tendons torn apart) so keyboarding inwards and downwards is one of the few thigs I can still do . . . no use crying !!! Knitting would be too painful and take a frustratingly long time by now 🙂 !
Oh no, that sounds really tough! I’m sorry you’ve been dealing with that for so long. It’s great that you’ve found some things like keyboarding that you can still enjoy without too much pain. Sometimes adapting is the hardest part, but it sounds like you’re handling it with a lot of resilience.
It looks as if you lent someone your sewing machine – I guess they won’t get it again
Oh well, it’s hard to say no to Jānis’s parents… I might have a little secret plan—to give them this one and get myself a new one. But as long as I still need it, I’m keeping it. Once I no longer have a good excuse… I just might hand it over.
Ah. I see 🙂
I’m so behind on all the blogs! I hope to reply to the comments and catch up on what you’ve all been up to lately. 🙂
Great news about the sewing machines.
I can’t remember the last time I used them!!! When Nelle was 2 months old – 13 years ago!
It’s great seeing The LORD Promise / a Rainbow 🌈. It will have you focusing on it, and knowing that HE IS FAITHFUL. Blessings always, Mtetar at basicissimple (Formerly projectsbymtetar on WordPress).
