Congratulations to all the mums and grandmothers around the world on Mother’s Day. ❤️
This Sunday turned out to be really lovely this year.
In the morning the kids brought me flowers, which already made the day feel special. But what surprised me the most was something their teachers had prepared at school. Each teacher had filmed a sweet little video where the children talked about their mums.

Apparently, according to my kids, I am “kind, hardworking, and creative.” They thanked me for feeding them (!?).
So hearing those words reminded me that children notice much more than we think they do.
Later we went to the concert of Emīlija Bērziņa together as a family. She won the Latvian version of The X Factor three years ago, and honestly, I think she is incredibly talented. She’s only 23 years old, but there is something very calm and genuine about her stage presence.
Please watch the 2nd clip “Favourite song”.
After the concert we ordered food, and Jānis drove to pick it up.
I ended the evening reading a gardening book (I don’t read!), which probably says a lot about the stage of life I’m currently in.
Especially because last night was terrible sleep-wise. I had nightmares and slept only around five hours, so today I could really feel the exhaustion sitting somewhere behind my eyes all day long.
I already know I’ll probably be in bed by 8 PM tonight.
And honestly?
That sounds like the perfect ending to this Sunday.

Happy Mothers’ Day, Ilze.
Absolutely love your photo with the roses . . . ‘kind, hardworking and creative’ . . . very grown-up delightful praise . . . sounds truly like a lovely day to remember . . . hope you had a good sleep now . . . 🙂 !
Thank you, Eha… Unfortunately I didn’t… I’ll try my best, if not.. there is always a pill for that! I don’t like pills!
Try the old trick of slowly counting from 99 backwards . . . not that it always works for me 🙂 !
Oh, the problem is that I fall asleep, but then wake up randomly a million times during the night — from nightmares or panic attacks. By around 7 a.m. I’m awake for good and can’t fall back asleep, and by then I’m already in pain.
Oh, I have always had major problems falling asleep however tired I am! And then waking up a million times 🙁 ! Born like that – remember being about 3-4 and waking up when the garbage truck would arrive a couple of times a week behind my window . . . then turn and turn and turn . . .
Did you find the solution?
Not really! Since I used to travel worldwide on business all the time in my younger years, my husband and I resorted to sleeping tablets which I still occasionally take . . . it depends how many worries there are . . . I use some Magnesium for leg cramps- that seems to help sleep also . . . you eat very, very healthily – you probably get all you need from your diet. . .
Not sure about that, but I hope that spring greens and food from my garden will do the trick 🙂
Delightful. I hope you sleep better tonight
