Saturday was one of those perfect winter days. Jānis bundled up the kids and took them to our favorite hill for some snow-sliding fun. It’s a special place for us—it’s where we got married. Now, the kids are creating their own cherished memories, racing down the hill on their sleds and playing in the snow.

While they were out, I chose a cozy day indoors. Wrapped in a blanket with a hot cup of tea, I indulged in a Hallmark romantic movie—pure comfort on a quiet winter afternoon. The contrast between their outdoor adventure and my indoor retreat felt just right.
When they returned, rosy-cheeked and brimming with stories, the house was alive with their excitement. We wrapped up the day with hot soup, desserts, and a cozy movie night. It’s the simple moments like these that make winter days truly special.

Oh, that’s so nice! Do your schools teach English as a part of the curriculum?

Yes! Also, The Russian language until the aggression to Ukraine started. Now it’s German 🙂 Also, Schools in Riga has more options for third language – Spanish, French, Italian, some Japan

I’m glad that English is taught, it is the most widely used language across the globe. It was a fine idea to stop teaching Russian, Putin is a madman.

What fun and memories! We just got 12 inches of snow and I’ve been watching my kids’ videos and photos of my grandkids having fun in the snow too. Such a joy to watch children experience snow!

Thank you! I’m glad I caught your comment (it was in the SPAM) —it’s so heartwarming to hear about your grandkids enjoying the snow! Watching kids play in the snow really does bring so much joy. 12 inches of snow sounds magical, though I imagine it’s quite the winter wonderland to manage too!

Sledding as a child really does hold such special memories, doesn’t it? There’s nothing quite like the thrill of flying down a snowy hill, laughter echoing in the crisp air. It’s wonderful that this beautiful place can now hold new memories for all of us—connecting the joy of the past with the magic of the present. ❤️
