A Wonderful Winter Day in February

Winter’s farewell gifted us a truly magical day at the end of February. The sun shone brightly, making the snow sparkle, and the air felt crisp but not too cold — just the perfect weather to enjoy the season’s last snowy moments.

Helmi, with her endless energy, decided that the frozen pond (don’t worry, we checked before, if it’s safe) needed a little makeover. She grabbed the snow shovel and cleaned a neat patch of ice, turning it into her very own ice-skating ring. The funny part? We don’t have skates. But that didn’t stop her. With the best sliding boots she could find, she glided across the ice, laughing and testing how far she could go with each push. Added a few power slides!

Now, as spring slowly peeks around the corner, I’m glad we got to squeeze in this little winter adventure to remember 😉

  1. I saw the pond and instantly thought oh no! The ice may not be safe! I grew up on a lake in Michigan and enjoyed shoveling our skating rinks, so much fun! Cherish these days, Ilze. 🙏🏻❤️😊

    1. Thank you for your concern! ❤️ The pond is quite shallow, and Jānis even tested the ice by jumping on it first. They always wait for our go-ahead before stepping on the ice — safety first! It truly is a joy to see them enjoying these simple moments. 😊

        1. I know exactly what you mean! I don’t even know what hurts more—letting them out to explore nature with all its “dangers” or keeping them inside behind some sort of screen. Both have risks, but I want them to truly experience the world. 🌿💕
