Today was Nelle’s art school graduation. It was a big milestone for her, and I’m so proud.
After the ceremony, we invited everyone over to our place for cake. Now the house smells like coffee and cake, and there are flowers everywhere. Seriously—everywhere.
Nelle was glowing the whole time. She was so happy, and rightfully so—she got the highest mark for her final work! 💫 It’s been a long journey for her, full of sketching, painting, mistakes, and inspiration, and today it all paid off. Big thanks to Nelle’s teacher (in the middle picture).

Everyone just left, and the house has gone quiet again. I didn’t have a moment to sit down and write earlier—things were a bit of a whirlwind—but I wanted to share this little update while everything’s still fresh and warm in my heart.
Here’s to creative kids, messy homes full of cake crumbs and flowers, and beautiful endings that mark the beginning of something new. 🌿

Thanks, John! 😊 Nelle was over the moon, and I may have gone a little overboard with the baking—but the crumbs prove it was worth it! What’s your go-to food for celebrations?

Wonderful! It would be cake but since I have type 2 diabetes that’s not possible. A piece of watermelon, or a cake made with Stevia! That I can eat with no issues. 😂

That makes total sense! Watermelon sounds like a refreshing choice — and Stevia cake is such a smart workaround! 😄 I love how you’ve found ways to still enjoy sweet treats without causing trouble. Health first, always!

Yes! Creatives, crumbs, and chaos—what a trio! 😄 Thank you, Beth. Do you have a favorite creative memory from your own childhood or your kids’?

I was always creating shows and events with my neighborhood friends and charging my other neighbors to come and see them )

That’s such a fun memory! What kind of shows did you put on—were they plays, dances, talent shows, or something completely made up? And do you remember how much you charged the neighbors? 😊

Thank you, Derrick! It really was. I wish I could’ve captured the scent of the room—flowers, coffee, and frosting all at once! Have you been to any memorable celebrations lately?

Love your artwork! The season still hasn’t started here — it’s running late. It’s still cold, and with daytime temperatures staying below +15°C, we can’t even call it a meteorological summer yet.

Thank you 😊 I just love summer – hope your weather warms up soon for you! ☀️

It really doesn’t feel like summer lately. ☔ It’s been raining almost every day—dirt roads are muddy, puddles everywhere. And even when it’s not raining, the constant overcast skies make it hard to enjoy that bright summer vibe… And the weather forecast isn’t any different. I can’t remember such a summer…and I’m 42!

We’ve had summers like that, in fact last year we had TONS of rain until July 4th and then FINALLY sun!! I can totally relate – I don’t like all the rain although we have problems with wildfires around here where I live and have lots of mountains around us. We are supposed to get rain this weekend which is much needed as we are really dry. Difficult to find a balance with weather some years I guess.

Oh wow, that really sounds familiar — it’s such a strange dance between too much rain and then suddenly not enough! I can imagine how tricky it must be with the risk of wildfires, especially surrounded by mountains. Hopefully, the rain this weekend helps! 🌧️
Where do you live, if you don’t mind me asking?
Greetings form Latvia!
