Oh nice, this year I had a surprise. Flowers on a kitchen table! Not expected at all! We don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. We don’t need to! We love each other every day and we aren’t spending money on things and flowers.Encouraging, Inspiring and making laugh. Helping each other, forgiving and being together. Growing our girls together. Not dividing household jobs by “for women” and “for men”…
St. Valentine’s Day came to Latvia ~20 years ago. And I think we still don’t know how to celebrate it. The only thing we have is commercials in every shop’s window that we should by red heart shaped plush toys, chocolate, spirits, and flowers. Come on! Is that it?!
How about spreading the love on an everyday basis?

Ilze, yes, we need to spread it everywhere. Love not hate makes the world go around. Happy Valentines Day to you and to all.

I totally agree with your thoughts and feelings on the holiday. We also avoid big Valentines Day celebrations and try to show our love in many ways throughout the year. Cheers!

This day is something relatively new here in Latvia. Maybe 20 years…

I don’t want to sound jaded but it has become very commercial here. Best to keep it simple. Cheers!
