    1. I wish I never heard of it since it something that is from Post Soviet times… here in Latvia. It’s hard for me to explain all the history and my feelings.

  1. In Finland we usually get roses or chocolate from the husbands/boyfriends or the men at work but that’s all. So we do know this day and celebrate it a little. 🙂

  2. As a Latvian I would not forget to celebrate it ever. Soviet times were not that great all-together, but this was a day which we really looked forward to and loved. So, I still feel very festive during this day and do something to make it a celebration, but Canada doesn’t see it the same way we did. It’s a very politicized day here and I miss the Latvian type of March 8: all tulips and dandelions and feasts at richly loaded tables. It is great to be a woman and celebrate it.
