This day is special. Special to me. Not because 35 is a big deal to me but because I realize, that self-love and confidence finally have arrived. I don’t know why it took so long!

Being me is the best thing ever! My blogging friend Jodi can tell you, that I’ve been through “few blogs” and “more concepts of blogging”. And then I made this blog… just to be who I am, and guess what!? I love it & enjoy doing it! I can share what I want whenever I want. Freedom!

Today I feel like… ME! I opened up the present I received from blogging friend Dimi from the UK. And it took my breath away! There was a cake baked for me inside! A cake! I never received a cake in a mail before. Have you!? And that is not it. In the Christmas, I received beautiful “tea for one” teapot from my family. Since it is manufactured in the UK I shoved it to Dimi. Now I got breakfast mug and plate as a birthday present. I did not expect that at all! Thank you!

The weather here is cold, snowy and sunny! Flurries came down the sky while I and Nelle had a walk. Nelle loves to make snow angels… I love double scarf…
Now inside, having the second cup of tea and slice of interesting-rum-filled-cake from Dimi.
Be you! Do you!
Ilze

🙂 It’s not “recipe blog” or “card making blog” or any other themed blog! No more!

Thank you, Jodi! And you made my heart sing. All your comments on my “whether I blog latvian and english, or only latvian… ” “what to share..” “etc” were positive, inspiring and patient! Thank you for being there and taking part in my everyday journey! Thank you!

That is so cool. Cake by mail. I had no idea a cake would last that long!
I am glad you had a good day, you deserve it. I’m glad to have found your blog and gotten to know you too! Themed blogs are good, I just prefer to be me, just like you. Yay for us!

This is your best post ever Ilze and a delight to read. And what a day to announce the new confident you – I can think of no better time than your 35th birthday. If Jodi can claim you as a sort of second mum maybe I can claim you as a sort of second Dad; I hope so as I am so proud of you and what you have achieved in the short time I have known you. I love that photo, not because you look 18 but because of the happy, mischevious glint in your eyes.
I’m honoured you mention the cake. I did not know how much rum had been fed to the cake but I looked at the tiny measuring jug used and guess what? It was more or less exactly 50ml as you said. Would you believe 2 litres of Yorkshire tea come into it too! I’ll put the recipe on my blog in the next dsy or two.
So, again: Daudz laimes dzimšanas dienā!

Thank you! Thank you for being here! I”m good at tasting exact portion of rum! (kidding) I have t-shirt that says: “Run!? I thought you said RUM!” (not kidding) 🙂 This cake (and the way it came) were worth mention! Also, home baked cake specially for me – very rare!!! But when someone brings homemade – I always mention that to others!!! That is time, effort, thought, etc pure love! It’s easy to buy cake in the cake shop, right?! All you need is money!

I knew I didn’t need to write anything – the cake was the message and you read it perfectly.

Thank you! It sure is fabulous 🙂 I thought there will be cookies and tea, cause Dimi sends me Yorkshire tea whenever I’m close to run out… and that is much! I never expect someone send me something! But to see the CAKE was OMG! And after I took time to unpack it and be joyful about it… I saw that there are more “presents”! I’m truly are surprised and speechless! I have perfect set for breakfasts now 🙂

That’s great! I am 63, a few days older than you, you have a lot of life to live my friend! ❤️😊

And a lot of stuff to deal with! Sometimes I wish I was older. Stay home and do whatever I want – no work, no small kids, finished house! 🙂

My advice is don’t rush your life away, Ilze, be very glad that you are so young! Hug your babies and hubby every day and tell them how much you love them, I know you do very much. I retired in 2016, I had to do the dues to get here, it wasn’t fun but it was well worth it.
