Well, I miss blogging a lot… sometimes I wish there were more hours in one day.

A few weeks ago I made a Christmas corner at my studio. And since then I’m so festive :).
I love my fake fireplace! How do you call it in English?
Are you getting ready for Christmas!?

I couldn’t find one in Latvia. This is the only one I could find! It’s something new for us.

To answer your second question, no I’m not preparing for Christmas yet. When I was young the first Christmas ‘event’ for us was putting up our Christmas stockings (hanging from the mantlepiece over the (real) fireplace – in fact more than that, a range with oven, hob, etc) before we went to bed. When we were asleep my mother put up the Christmas tree and decorated the room, so Christmas morning was magical. My urge is to follow that tradition but Petronela natters me from the beginning of December to put up the Christmas tree. So it goes up when I can hold out no longer – maybe a couple of weeks before Christmas Day. She always decorates it.

Somehow my mom and granmother brought spruce tree inside a week before Christmas (only!) But I love to decorate early – a bit before first Advent Sunday. This year early, cause this corner is for photoshoots 🙂

Your faux fireplace Christmas corner will be perfect for family pictures. As for the tree, mine goes up next week as we celebrate Thanksgiving on November 22 earlier than normal this year. I put up our fake tree with only the lights then stack the boxes of ornaments nearby so my dinner guests can put them on the tree. For the past 10 years or so, I have hosted Thanksgiving dinner at my house and as a way of getting everyone to do something without being in my way in the kitchen, I have them put the ornaments on the tree. Genius don’t you think?

It is genius! But are you sure you wan your antique many years old ornamets to be put on the tree by OTHERS THAN YOU!? 😀 I asked my friend to come over and help with ornoments, but she didn’t have time so I did it by myself. About Christmas corner: I love it too 🙂

One of my nieces always comes for dinner on thanksgiving and she loves my ornaments almost as much as I do so takes very good care of them. I am blessed.

I hope one of my girls will be like that 🙂

Start by telling them the stories that go with each ornament. Hopefully they learn to love them through your stories.

🙂 I hope it will work, cause I don’t have “old” ornaments… only 10 years old… As old as is my family.

It’s a good place to start. Then maybe your girls can relate to the stories better. Let them choose or make an ornament to add to the tree each year. That way the get to add to the stories

I understand. It take time to carry on or make new traditions. And time is in short supply in yourvlofe right now. Enjoy your holiday season as much as you can with as little fuss as possible. It’s really about making time for each other.

Your Christmas Corner looks fabulous. You clever thing! Our Christmas tree is up and beginning to feel festive! As an aside, have been really slack with reading and writing blogs for the last few months. Now trying to catch up…so you may be inundated with responses to older posts.
