In the morning, I went for a walk and brought home a beautiful maple leaf. I even tried drawing it later. It didn’t turn out exactly as I imagined, but considering I’ve had no prior training in art, I think it came out pretty well. It feels so refreshing to slow down, notice these little details, and actually try to capture them on paper.

Back at home, I continued working on the sofa pillows. These past weeks of sewing have made me much more confident – I can sew a straight seam without second-guessing myself now, which feels like real progress. I even treated myself to new pins and scissors. They’ll serve me well for the next 10 years, I’m sure.

I’m getting so close to finishing this sewing project, and I can already imagine how cozy the space will look once everything is in place. Between the refreshing walks, autumn leaves, and the hum of the sewing machine, the day felt simple but very good.

The leaf is beautiful, Ilze! I love autumn’s leaves as much as summer’s flowers 🙂 I will be excited to see pics of how the room comes together when you have all of your sewing done 🙂
A good day for you, Ilze. 😊
it sounds like all is going well and it’s going to be beautiful inside and out
Love the maple leaf.
Letting you know we will be travelling remotely for most of the next three-four weeks. Back towards the end of September. Enjoy your last days of vacation.
Thank you, Peggy! I hope you will have safe travels and will post about it on your blog 🙂
Absolutely love autumn leaves and you have one on paper just perfectly! And such a clear sky to enjoy . . , do you know what max the temperature was . . . 🙂 ?
I think it was +8 and then +16 in the day time… if that is what you were asking me 😉
Am laughing at differences – that is considered a very cool winter’s day here 🙂 !
🙂 not here….
Your painting is very good!
Thank you! I can’t believe it’s mine 🙂
I admire your habits that lead a fulfilling life, Ilze.
Thank you, Hazel…. I think I’m practical and bit artsy 🙂
My pleasure, Ilze
I am very impressed by the leaf drawing. Really quite excellent.
Thank you, Paol 🙂 Do you like to draw?
I would love to but no, I don’t. Photographs are my way out.
Same here… but I enjoy making small sketches, and I’ll keep doing them as long as they bring me joy 🙂
Well, I think that painting looks pretty damn good! (I can barely draw
stick-men . . .) and where you live is just beautiful. x
Oh, thank you 🙂 That is lovely to hear! I was thinking the same, and then I tried!
You have a number of natural talents. Keep up the art. Having been off line for two days I will have to miss a couple of posts
Thank you, Derrick! It’s an interesting feeling… I thought I couldn’t do it, and then I tried. I’ve wanted to try it for decades. I couldn’t help but wonder—what else have I been telling myself I can’t do?
Your drawing is excellent, Ilze. You’re a fine artist.
Thank you, Mary!
