Sure! I think you guys, your family are interesting people and I am curious to see what Latvia looks like. That’s a great question, Ilze. 😎😊

Aw, thank you! 😊 That means a lot. I’d love to share more about Latvia—it’s such a small country, but full of charm. I’m working on a project and I have less time, so I wonder which of the posts you would enjoy more.

Well. Where to start. It’s interesting for a Brit, your posts are
informative, gentle, and sweet. It seems that you live in an amazing
part of the world, and have a lovely life. The harvesting, the plants,
the cooking, the crafts you do, it all helps to complete my day.

Thank you — your words mean a lot. I’m happy the photos come through and that you like the place — it’s a small, quiet corner, but I adore it. I’ll share more pictures soon.

Hi Ilze, I’m enjoying getting to know you, and I share many of your interests such as cooking, baking, caring for a family, sewing, gardening . . .

Hi Mary — that’s lovely to hear. It’s nice to meet someone else who enjoys the same little domestic things. I’ll keep sharing recipes, sewing wins (and fails!), and garden updates.

Learning about other parts of our world, how people spend their time, raise their families, and community involvement draws me in. I like the pictures you post and the snippets of your life.

Thank you, Anita. I really enjoy sharing those little slice-of-life moments, so I’m happy to hear they resonate with you. I’ll keep adding photos and snippets from our daily rhythm. I don’t think we’ve chatted here in the comments before — it’s lovely to see you!

The photographs, the tales, and that one of my best friends in Copenhagen (where I used to live) is from Latvia and my dentist as a child was also Latvian 🙂

Thank you, beth — that’s exactly what I hope for: to share a bit of life here and be a small, interesting window into Latvia. I’m happy you find us fun!

I follow your blog because I never know what it will be. A post about your lovely family, your gardens, antiques, sewing or renovation projects, or an interesting fact about a country I know very little about, but now feel as if I’ve been there 🙂 I never know what it will be, but I always know it will be good!

That’s the nicest compliment — thank you! I like keeping the posts varied, too, so I’m glad the unpredictability works for you. I’ll try to keep surprising you. 🙂 Might be about how to quit sugar! You are the expert in this, I bet! I still recall the A Baby Bubble 🙂 How are you doing now?

Still sugar free, with a planned treat each month. With the holidays fast approaching I am hoping I can stay on the wagon this time 🙂

I am a 1st generation American with Latvian parents that speaks Latvian. Still have family in Riga and I visited n June and July for 30+ days. I found your blog searching for something. Probably a recipe and decided to follow you. I also enjoy learning about your life, garden, projects etc.

How wonderful — and welcome here! I’m delighted you found the blog while looking for a recipe. If you’d like, I can post more recipes and a few stories about Riga from my perspective next. What do you think?

Recipes are always welcome! I want to try my hand at making saldskāb maizi this winter. :).
Stories about Riga are always welcomed. My parents last lived in Ventspils where they went to school and were confirmed. Knowing each other but not married until arriving in the US separately many years later. Mom still has a cousin in Ventspils.

Easy to answer as far as I am concerned. Being born and having spent my childhood in Estonia to the north of you was naturally interested when I accidentally picked your name up somewhere. Since then have grown interested in following someone ‘up there’, understand your lifestyle and love being able to ‘share’ it a tad – thank you!!! And I DO like your photography thereof 🙂 !

Thank you so much. It’s touching to hear from someone who grew up nearby — Estonia and Latvia share so much history and feeling. I’m glad my photos and posts let you ‘share’ a little of what life is like up here. I visited Parnu (Estonia) recently 🙂 Loved it! I think you missed the whole post: https://latvianmom.com/2025/09/16/a-walk-in-parnu/

I love to see how others not in my country live and that it brings us all together as we see that we really aren’t very different. Your countryside is beautiful :).

Thank you — I love that thought: we really aren’t so different. I’m glad the countryside photos resonate with you; I’ll keep posting gentle glimpses. Where are you from?

Well Ilze, I follow a mix of amateur, advanced amateur and pro photographers, who share the same passion for nature, birds, and wildlife photography. If I’m not mistaken, you actually ended up on my site through a photography question yourself. The place where someone lives and what they shoot always gives a glimpse of how nature looks somewhere else – and let’s be honest, Latvia isn’t exactly a top tourist hotspot, which makes it all the more interesting. Hope that answers your question, or feel free to throw me one yourself. All the best, Marc.

Marc — thank you, and I appreciate that you take an interest in nature photography. It’s always fun to connect over the places we shoot and the wildlife we find! I’m glad this is not a tourist hotspot 🙂 I love nature, no need for tourists. We dream of having a small flat at the end of the garage for someone to stay over. Meaningful stays, long walks, nature, and warming conversations 🙂 … then they won’t be tourists anymore, but freinds 🙂

That’s so encouraging — thank you! It’s truly satisfying to know my writing and photos can create that bond. But, as I always like to say, I couldn’t do it without a little help from Grammarly. 😊 My talking isn’t that perfect, but I think we still could chat for hours 🙂 Love your photography! Garden – dream! And your blog ending with – what’s for dinner reminds me of my grandmothers note book – she did the same 🙂

First of all, I met you online through our mutual Latvian heritage. After living in Riga, Latvia, with my husband and soulmate for 20 years and he suddenly passing on, I felt I needed to run from the memories, and through my best friend since the 6th grade, I relocated to Florida and an apartment above her. Unfortunately, we had a very short reunion of several years, and she passed on. So you gave me an opportunity to find out what is going on in Latvia and enjoy the happenings of your family. I miss Latvia but no longer have the money to return, so I am now stuck in Florida and glad you can give me a window to look through and remember my days in Latvia.
