First Residents in Our Raised Veggie Beds

The first residents have moved into our new raised veggie beds!

First, I planted out the leeks I’ve been growing from seed since February 21 — DE CARENTAN. They are still very small, but I hope they’ll love their new home and grow strong over the summer. I already can’t wait to harvest one for a warm mushroom soup someday.

To keep the leeks company, I started thinking more about companion planting. That’s why I sowed Detroit beetroot on one side of the bed and Nantes carrots on the other.

And for the very first time, I’m trying trailing nasturtiums (Luteus). I hope they will happily spread across the whole end of the 6-meter-long raised bed with their leaves and flowers.

I can’t wait to see this bed slowly come alive!

Also, Marley was everywhere helping me, my hands were covered in dirt, and I didn’t manage to take more photos.

  1. I can totally tell that you’re a few weeks ahead of us, based on the size of the leeks alone 🤣 But I just realized… you’re close enough that we can share seeds! This is gonna make next spring so much more interesting…

  2. Neither can we wait for your results . . . your imaginative planting sounds like a natural art work . . . well, plants are live, so I do hope they all enjoy growing together and showing off to you by putting on extra growth extra fast . . . 🙂 !
