The weather outside is getting colder, and the days are starting to feel shorter. Autumn is slowly settling in, and I’ve been preparing myself for the usual quiet of the garden as the season changes.

But today I had a lovely surprise. Some say that when the weather gets colder and colder, zucchini stops producing—but here I am, holding a full bowl of fresh zucchini from my garden! It feels like a little gift from the plants, a reminder that nature can be full of unexpected joys.

Moments like these make all the work in the garden worth it. Even as the temperatures drop, there are still treasures to be found, and I’m grateful for this small but delightful harvest.
I think I’m in the right place.

Ahhh, what a lovely surprise. Do I see zucchini bread in your future??
Oh, you might! But I like to eat it in waffles, stews, soups and scrambled eggs 🙂
The zucchini looks great. I remember we used to grow tomatoes, cucumbers, and potatoes in our graden in Pardaugava. When harvest time came we filled a box with everything and our cat got in to stand guard over the harvest. As far as I knew, he did not eat any of these veggies, but he felt it was his duty.
Love it! Cat as a dog… the same with our cat, he is like a dog 🙂
Your should make the kids chocolate zucchini bread 🙂
I should try, I made savory waffles and also sweet ones… both were eaten!
It is wonderful being able to reap produce from your garden! These look delicious 🙂 🙂
Look at that! You’ve had a productive garden this year, Ilze.
